Log #5 - distantshenanigans

Another post on the same day! Amazing! Please see our 5th entry into the roundtable -  distantshenanigans  (aka They mentioned Darren Shan in the below answers so I like this post already) 1. How did you get started in fan-fiction?  I got started in fanfiction from... huh, I don’t even remember? I know it involved characters from Naruto, and it was when I was 12. 2. What are your fandom(s) and why do you like/love/hate them? uhhh... There are a LOT of fandoms, so my top 3 are Transformers, Star Wars, and Naruto. Like, I love a good bit of the creativity of the fandoms, but the rampant homophobia, transphobia, and racism in ALL of them is... Not Chill 3. What is the most easiest/hardest part about writing? there is 0 easy part of writing other than “oh this scenario is cute” and the rest is just... Hard. 4. Who are your inspirations?  .... everyone who writes? Like, it takes courage to not just write, but to PUBLISH it? Fanfiction or Profic, it doesn’t m...

Log #4 - Ailenzo

Happy weekend everyone! Please see our 4th entry into the roundtable - Ailenzo (aka The People Person) 1. How did you get started in fan-fiction?      I watched Star Wars The Phantom Menace when I was around 12, and I felt an uncontrollable urge to delve deeper into how the characters felt. I wrote my first piece of fanfiction without realizing what it was, or that there was a well-known outlet for that kind of agitation. Eventually, around age 15, I got heavily into Livejournal and J-Rock, where I was introduced to people who had been writing steady streams of fanfiction for years, and my backhand interest blossomed into a full blown hobby. 2. What are your fandom(s) and why do you like/love/hate them?      I love the Rooster Teeth fandom, as their Grand Theft Auto 5 personas give me an excellent outlet to write criminal / gritty fic. Unfortunately, their fanbase can get toxic and catty at times, so I usually post and disappear fairly quickly. Ma...

Log #3 - Yoru

Hello. Welcome to our third entrant to our blog series - Yoru (aka The One with a Fish Memory) 1. How did you get started in fan-fiction? I got started in it kind of by accident because I was an extremely anxious kind of fan. I would watch my favourite shows and after the end of each episode I'd spend hours trying to figure out what was going to happen on the next one (more often than not I was way out of mark but it was a fun activity, anyway). Then I started writing it just for myself and at some point I found out this amazing place where a lot more people did the same thing I did, just they shared it with each other. 2. What are your fandom(s) and why do you like/love/hate them? My first fandom was Card Captor Sakura. I loved it. It was an empowering universe with charismatic characters where the lead female didn't need to be anything other than kind. Sakura wasn't a badass tough girl. She was soft and happy-go-lucky and extremely powerful anyway. It was also suc...

Log #2 - Ember/Primeideal

Hello. Welcome to our second entrant to our blog series - Ember (aka the One with the usage of the Phrase - Google Fucking Maps in her story) 1. How did you get started in fan-fiction? I started in fanfiction a long time ago! I've been making up stories ever since I was a little kid, but probably the first time I made up fanfiction per se was when my parents encouraged me to write an alternate ending to Animorphs to deal with my disappointment in it. I discovered Fanfiction.Net in 2005 (linked from a Redwall forum) and then it was off to the races! 2. What are your fandom(s) and why do you like/love/hate them? Probably my longest-running fandom is Animorphs. I love the varieties of aliens and worldbuilding; I hate the drastic shifts from hopeful to stupidly silly discarded subplots to bleakness and "you're dumb and stupid for wanting closure." Star Wars--love the family relationships of the OT, hate the clumsy reboot-ness of the sequel trilogy. Harry Potte...

Log #1 - Skazka 9000!

Hello. Welcome to the first entrant to our blog series - Ska (aka The One with the Fascination with Jared Harris) Please see their answers below: 1. How did you get started in fanfiction? My intro to fanfiction was probably the influx of LOTR and SW prequel trilogy crackfic in the early '00s -- my sisters were both big SF/fantasy readers and probably more in touch with the serious storytelling side of fanfiction at that time, but I was obsessed with the Sith Academy series (http://www.siubhan.com/sithacademy/) and the late great Bag Enders series by Lady Alyssa and Random Dent. Neither of which were remotely age-appropriate, but they were a definite plunge in the more, uh, transformative side of transformative works fandom. My earliest fics were attempts at comedy in the same vein, alongside very serious emotional wallowing.  2. What are your fandom(s) and why do you like/love/hate them? I write for a lot of small fandoms, which are great in some ways -- there's a rea...

Introduction.

Hello dear reader. Please allow me to welcome you to the Writers Roundtable. A original name that probably has never been used before. Not once. Nada. Here I want to profile the story tellers - the writers who sit there pouring blood, sweat and yes actual LITERAL tears into their project. To share their passion - for the hours they spend writing stories - expanding or building on universes - shaping out arcs and ideas - shaping destiny beneath the usage of a keyboard and Ariel Font. Because goddammit - just because that pairing doesn't exist in the original work doesn't mean that they will ignore them! What I want this to be is a collection of interviews - albeit the same questions that anyone can ask - but I want fellow writers to ask each others questions too - questions that I myself who only has written a quick drabble (Sherlock fandom, if you must know) wouldn't be able to think of myself. I want to be able to promote work either on A03 - FF.net - Tumblr etc. I...
